Unbelievable Story of Infant Murder

Joseph Mouton, 57

This story is absolutely insane.  Joseph Mouton, 57, has been charged with killing his 6-month-old son… THEN hiding his body in a refrigerator… AND he has not been charged with murder.

His defense was that he was under the influence when the child was killed.  Yet, he was previously arrested for battering the baby’s mother when she was pregnant and also pled guilty to attempted murder several years prior.  This case is just unbelievable.

PLEASE get the word out about Safe Havens.  It turns out that Mouton gained custody of the child because the mother could not afford to care for him.  There is always a better choice than leaving your children with someone who is likely to abuse them.  I have no more words.

Baby Jasper, Another Shaking

Another little baby, 5-month-old Jasper, appears to have been killed due to shaking.  Matthew J. Clark, 21, testified that he saw his girlfriend Leslie Anne Holmes, 22, shake the baby for one to two minutes before he took him from Holmes.  Clark also testified that he had seen her hit the baby in the past.  Well, if that is true, I think Clark should go to jail, as well.  Anyone who hits a 5-month-old baby cannot call it discipline.  It’s abuse.  Plain and simple.  If someone else is there to witness a child being hurt and fails to report it, that is a crime, as well.

The last part of this article is what was really terrifying.  It said the baby was also found to have old injuries when the autopsy was performed: broken leg and arm fracture.  This poor little baby.  PARENTS: If you are not capable of properly caring for your children, please know that there are many wonderful families that would love to have them.

Gordon Collins-Faunce Admits to Baby Murder

Gordon Collins-Faunce

Baby Ethan, 10-weeks-old, died recently due to abuse by his father.  The father, Gordon Collins-Faunce, 23, admits to grabbing him by the head and throwing him in a chair.

The really sad part about this story is that the abuse should have been caught 6 weeks earlier when Ethan suffered a broken arm.  As I am sure you know, it is pretty hard to break a 4-week-old’s bones.  They are quite elastic.  So, the hospital should definitely have called the authorities and reported that there was a suspicion of child abuse here.  Ethan had a twin brother and half-sister who do not appear to have been abused.

Jeremiah Eskew-Shahan, Another Killed by Dog

Onion and Jeremiah Eskew-Shahan

Another baby was killed by a dog this week.  Baby Jeremiah from Louisiana, just learning to walk, tried to use the family dog, Onion, to pull himself up onto his feet.  The dog reacted by grabbing the baby’s head with his mouth and shaking.

This is mostly sad because an innocent baby’s life was lost due to a preventable accident.  I am also sad, though, because Onion was just startled out of his nap and reacted on instinct.  He does not deserve to die either.  No parent should leave this young of a child within reach of this big of a dog.  It should be a crime.  Even the best-behaved dog could do something like this.

Aiden McGrew, Killed by Dog

Aiden McGrew

I am sure everyone in the country has heard the story of little Aiden McGrew recently.  He was the 2-month-old baby that was ultimately killed by a dog in South Carolina.

This is particularly tragic for me as a resident of South Carolina.  It also makes me especially angry.  I can think of no reason why a parent would leave a baby unprotected in the living room while they slept in the bedroom.  I am further dumbfounded when you add to that a dog that the family had only had a short time and had no way of knowing whether it was safe to have around children.  Well, both the baby boy and the dog are now dead and the sleepy father is being charged with unlawful neglect of a child.

Protect your children.  NEVER leave your child unsupervised with a dog.

Billings Baby Doing Well

The baby boy who was abandoned in a Billings hospital bathroom is doing well.  He is now 6-months-old and has been adopted by a loving family.  He was actually the first baby in the state’s history to be legally given up under the 11-year-old Safe Haven laws in Montana.

I was surprised to read in this article that the state does not mandate that parents give infants to a person at Safe Haven locations.  So, leaving this child in the hospital bathroom was just fine.  Pardon the opinion, but that seems ridiculous to me.  What if this baby was left somewhere at which he was not found for hours?  OR what if he was found by a non-staff member who wished to harm him?  Not smart.

This article continues with some arguments against Safe Haven laws which I found to be quite entertaining, but also ridiculous.  I have read more stories about infant abandonment than any one person should and I can say with certainty that Safe Haven is necessary and it saves lives.

Little Girl Left in Car While Father in Jail

Noe Alejandro Martinez, 23

It has been a long time since I saw one of these.  A father left his 9-month-old infant in a car with no ventilation while he went inside a jail to retrieve his possessions.  A security guard found the poor little girl crying and sweating and broke a window to get her out.  The father, Noe Alejandro Martinez, 23, was arrested at the scene.  Yes, he not only left her in the car… he left her in a car at a jail.

I had no idea there was anyone left in the world who did not know it’s a bad idea to leave a baby in a car.  I am flabbergasted.  The last story I saw had a mother who was under the influence and forgot the child was in there.  The father in this story has no such excuse.  He knowingly and willingly decided that it would be too much hassle to bring the little girl on his errand with him or find a babysitter.  Thank goodness someone found her before permanent damage was done.  She was released into the custody of the mother, but CPS is investigating.

Teliajah Brown: Murdered by Mother’s Boyfriend

Teliajah Brown

I have yet ANOTHER case of a child murdered by the mother’s boyfriend.  Is this some insane trend we are seeing here?  3-year-old Teliajah Brown died due to blunt force trauma while in the care of Shonta Barnhill-Sherrod.  He claims that the death was accidental and happened when they were wrestling.

I am just so confused by how many of these I have seen lately.  Are these moms just showing bad judgment in who they bring around their children?  Are all of these deaths coincidence?  How long should you know someone before you allow them to be alone with your children?  I would love to hear some thoughts on this.

Baby Left to Die in Louisiana

Sabrina Maiden

A baby was found dead in a swampy area in Louisiana.  This story has just about every bad thing that could have led up to this murder: domestic dispute, drug abuse, firearms, and a poor environment.  I will let you read all of the details, but basically 22-year-old Sabrina Maiden has been charged with first-degree murder for laying her son in a field and leaving him to die.

I do not know how many times I have said this, but it is clearly not reaching some people.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ABANDON/HARM/MURDER YOUR BABY!  There are Safe Haven locations where you can drop them off 100% anonymously.  100% anonymously means you do not even have to give your name.  Nothing.

Do You Trust Your Babysitter?

Jayden Brianne Turner

21-year-old Mark Edward Vaughn was arrested in Los Angeles County for the murder of his girlfriend’s 17-month-old daughter, Jayden Brianne Turner.  Although he has insisted that she fell and hit her head on a carpeted floor, the coroner said that this story is not consistent with her injuries and ruled her death a homicide.

I know it difficult to be a parent, but this is no excuse for leaving your children with someone unable to care for them.  We have reported on several articles lately where the parent left an infant in the care of someone who is now being charged with murder.  Even if this is not something you can be criminally prosecuted for, I bet every one of these parents will regret their decision for the rest of their lives.
